Machines with no route out are licensed with a signed file rather than a sign-in:

  • paste it into Settings → Account in the desktop app, or
  • sqlmc license import license.smclic, or
  • set SQLMC_LICENSE to its contents — which is the right answer on a CI agent, because it needs no writable state at all

The file verifies entirely offline. There is no call home, ever, and it is not tied to a machine, so the same file works on every host in a fleet.
