About us

SQL Multicast was written by an engineer who needed it, after more than twenty-five years of building and running software on SQL Server.

Why we built it

In 2021 we had a simple, constant job: run the same script against a long list of databases, and know for certain what happened on each one. The tools on the market barely met that need. They were expensive, they were rarely updated, and they carried annoying defects that stayed there release after release, because nobody was fixing them.

There was a gap, so we started building the tool we wanted to use. It has been shaped since then by the people who run it against real fleets of databases, and a bug that gets reported is a bug that gets fixed.

Who is behind it

SQL Multicast is built by Albert Raiani, a software architect and principal engineer. For more than fifteen years he has been the architect and technical owner of a large SaaS platform built on ASP.NET Core and SQL Server. He is responsible for the data integrity and performance of more than 200 SQL Server databases, which is exactly the kind of estate this tool is made for.

He has spent a career delivering enterprise systems for large organizations, holds multiple Microsoft certifications, and has led and mentored distributed teams.

The future of SQL Multicast

Today SQL Multicast runs scripts against Microsoft SQL Server, on-premises and in Azure. The problem it solves is not unique to SQL Server, though: anyone who runs the same change across many databases needs the same safety, the same visibility and the same repeatability. Our goal is to bring SQL Multicast to the most popular relational database platforms, so one tool covers the whole estate.
