How to share your SQL projects and target groups with your team through git
Keep scripts, target groups and environments in a workspace folder under git, with no passwords in the repository.
Published
A folder of scripts on one person's laptop is a bus-factor problem. A workspace in git gives the team the same projects, the same target groups and the same environments.
What to commit
Commit the workspace manifest, connections.json, distributionLists.json, environments.json and your
projects. Ignore connections.local.json, which holds per-machine overrides.
There are no secrets in the committed files: connections.json holds a reference to a credential-store
entry, never a password.
Work from the app
The Git tab shows the branch, ahead and behind counts, and the changed files, so you can commit without leaving the window.

Why it helps
- A new teammate clones the repository, opens the workspace and has every group and environment.
- A change to a target group is a reviewed diff, like any other change.
- The script that ran last Tuesday is the commit that ran last Tuesday.
